BOTOX will reduce many signs of aging.* It can be used to ease away facial lines and wrinkles. It can also be used to give your eyebrow a lift, restoring its former arch.* The results from the BOTOX treatment are seen quickly, and the treatment process just takes a few minutes. There is little or no recovery time required for BOTOX treatments.*
BOTOX is an effective stand-alone treatment, and it can also be combined with additional nonsurgical cosmetic procedures. Dermal fillers like Restylane, Radiesse, and/or Juvederm may be recommended for comprehensive facial rejuvenation results.
Understanding the BOTOX Procedure
The BOTOX treatment is a fairly painless and quick process.* There is no anesthesia used. The doctor simply uses a fine needle to inject BOTOX into specific muscles in the targeted areas. The injections will weaken the muscles and ease the wrinkles and lines.*
There are no especially elaborate precautionary measures to be undertaken before the BOTOX treatment. The only recommendation is to avoid alcohol, aspirin, and anti-inflammatory medications for approximately two weeks before the treatment. This is to reduce the amount of bruising experienced in the treated areas.
What to Expect During BOTOX Recovery
Unlike facial plastic surgeries, there is no significant recovery period after BOTOX injections. Most patients can resume their normal activities within hours of the treatment. Rubbing the injection sites is not recommended for up to 12 hours after treatment, as you might accidentally move the injected BOTOX solution.
Duration of BOTOX Results
The effects of a BOTOX treatment can last for approximately four to six months*. After this period has passed, you will once again begin to see wrinkles and lines on your face. To remain effective, BOTOX treatments should be performed three or four times a year.*
Potential Side Effects
BOTOX treatments have very few side effects. Most individuals only experience temporary bruising at the injection sites of the targeted areas. In rare cases, patients experience headaches. These headaches disappear within a day or two.
In a few cases, patients experience eyelid drooping. Contact your doctor if this occurs. In cases of eyelid drooping, the symptom typically resolves itself within a period of three weeks.*

BOTOX is a cosmetic treatment that is not usually medically required. Verify with your insurance provider whether or not the treatment is covered by your insurance policy. BOTOX is not recommended for individuals suffering from neurological disease. It is also not a recommended treatment option for pregnant women or breastfeeding mothers.
